Welcome to The Hay Shed! We are Ian, James and Graeme, three brothers running our family farm. We have been producing the greenest grass for decades, which has been perfectly prepared for your pets.
Our family farm is based in Northumberland, nestled between the rolling Cheviot hills and the gorgeous east coast beaches. It has been in the family for almost a century and has the perfect environment to produce a variety of crops.
We have been providing the equine industry with our tasty hay for over a decade, allowing us to finesse growing nutrient-dense grass and develop a shed drying system to ensure quality control for every bale. Small pets should be fed hay of the best quality, too, so we endeavoured to get it delivered right to your door so your furry friends can tuck into the good stuff from the comfort of their homes.
Grow It
We grow several varieties of grass across the farm, taking care that each field is tended to ensure nutrient-dense crops. The farms’ location in Northumberland provides the perfect balance of rain and sunshine, so the lush grass continues to grow for up to eight months of the year.
Mow It
Once each grass has matured to produce an abundance of seed heads, we mow it to capture it at its peak. We lift it immediately and transport it to our Hay Shed to ensure none of the crucial nutrients are lost and to prevent any sun bleaching.
Dry It
We use a state-of-the-art drying floor to carefully control the process of removing moisture from the grass. This allows us to produce hay which is perfectly dried without losing its sweet flavour, essential nutrients, and rich green colour.
Pack It
Our packaging process removes all dust, which is harmful to small pets’ respiratory systems, and then it’s hand packed by our lovely team in eco-friendly boxes. We guarantee same day dispatch when ordered by 2pm, so your pets can enjoy the best farm fresh hay without any hassle.
