Two Years of The Hay Shed

The Hay Shed is 2 - A birthday cake with 2 candle and some balloons

We can’t quite believe it’s been two years since we launched The Hay Shed. Our second year has been a busy and exciting one!  We’ve launched lots of new products, welcomed Dr Lucy Robson to the team, been challenged by exceptionally dry conditions in the key grass growing season, adjusted our mowing process to produce the longest, greenest strands possible, and so much more.

Let’s take a look back over the past year…

March – We kicked things off with a wave of new treats, welcoming Sunflower Petals, Pear Sticks, Flaked Peas and Nettle Leaves to the range.

April – We officially welcomed Dr Lucy Robson to The Hay Shed team, bringing even more expert knowledge and guidance to everything we do.

May – An unusually dry spell meant very little rainfall, making grass growth a real challenge. At the beginning of the month, we heavy rolled our fields to level the ground, creating the perfect base for new hay growth.

June – Harvest time arrived, and there was still very little rain. A stressful month behind the scenes, with lots of careful planning and long days on the farm. Our wildflower fields were in full bloom and bees from a neighbouring farm supported pollination.

July – Harvest continued, with extra care taken to cut the longest strands possible, just the way we know your small pets enjoy them.

August – New treats and forage launched: Multi-Vitamin Mix, Calm & Comfort Mix, Lemon Balm, Apple Sticks, hibiscus flowers, and Echinacea Flowers & Stems. Our team also attended The National Rabbit Festival and met so many amazing customers.

September – A huge milestone, we launched our Blend Boxes. Our team also visited the Pets & Aquatics Trade Show, connecting with other industry experts and learning even more.

October – We spent the month working on a few top-secret projects behind the scenes, with more to share in 2026.

November – Christmas arrived early at The Hay Shed, with the launch of our festive products and we even had our first sprinkling of snow.

December – We welcomed some new winter residents to our hay fields, sheep! Grazing over winter helps improve grass quality for the seasons ahead.

January – The Hay Shed turns 2! Two years of hay, hard work, community support and looking after small pets the best way we know how.

What a year it has been! We really couldn’t have done any of this without you, we are so thankful for all your support throughout the last year and since we launched.

As we head into our 3rd year, we can’t wait to see what it will bring and share the exciting projects we’ve been working on behind-the-scenes with you. Keep an eye on our newsletter and socials to be the first to know!
